PlanePit - Private Aviators Network

A verified community for people who own and fly private aircraft. Briefings on ownership, operations, and airmanship, written by pilots who have made most of the mistakes they are warning you about.

Introduction

A quiet place for the people who actually fly

PlanePit is a small, verified community for people who own and fly private aircraft. We built it for the ones who spend Saturdays at the hangar and know what a mag check sounds like. Pilots who would rather trade notes with someone who has actually flown the approach than argue in a comment thread under a video.

Every member verifies with a current license, a medical, or an aircraft registration in their name. Someone on our side looks at what you sent, confirms it, and deletes the file. That review is most of what we do, and it is the reason the conversation here stays worth reading.

We are not a venture-backed startup and we are not trying to become one. PlanePit is a place to talk about flying, run by pilots, and we would like to keep it that way.

What makes it different

Three things we got stubborn about

01

Verified pilots only

License, medical, or an aircraft registration in your own name. Every account is reviewed by a person before it can post. Nobody shows up here claiming ten thousand hours from a basement.

02

Quiet by design

No algorithmic feed. No notification nags. No ads chasing you about cylinder overhauls because you mentioned a rough mag in a thread. You read what you came for and close the tab when you are done.

03

Written from the hangar

Every briefing is written by a member who has been in the left seat long enough to have something worth saying. It is not a content mill and it is not an SEO operation pretending to be flight advice.

What is inside

Briefings, threads, and a map of who is flying nearby

Briefings

Longer pieces on ownership, operations, and airmanship. Annuals, hangar leases, engine overhauls, IFR gotchas, the weather day that taught somebody more than they wanted to learn. Each one is credited to the member who wrote it.

Threads

Shorter notes for everything briefings do not cover. A new airworthiness directive, an airport closing, a strange noise in the pattern, a part you are trying to track down before Saturday's fly-in.

Member map

An opt-in map with coarse locations. Put a face to a tail number, or find the people flying out of the field you are headed into next weekend.

If you fly, PlanePit is open to you. If you are still working toward ownership, so are we. The community is small, and we intend to keep it that way.
