# PlanePit > PlanePit is a set of tools for private aircraft owners, in beta. It has a journey log, a flight recorder app for Android, a public aerodrome weather brief, and articles on ownership, operations and airmanship. Social features (an owner map, posts, contact between owners) are planned for later. ## About PlanePit keeps the records for a privately owned plane. The journey log holds flights, fuel uplifts and oil top-ups, with the Hobbs meter as the source of truth. Entries come from a Hobbs photo read automatically, a GPX track, the Telegram bot or a web form. The plane page shows flown tracks on a map, monthly hours, and fuel and oil burn per engine hour, and the log exports to CSV. The Android app records each flight. The server builds a flight report from the recording (engine RPM, run-up and magneto drops, bank and coordination in turns, and each landing's speed, g and sink rate) and engine trends per plane. The app is not on Google Play. Accounts are for people who own or have owned a plane. Sign-up asks for a photo of you next to your plane, and an admin checks it before the account opens. Articles and the aerodrome brief are public. ## Articles - [All articles](https://planepit.com/articles): Aviation articles covering ownership, operations, and airmanship ## Aerodrome brief - [Aerodrome brief](https://planepit.com/brief): VFR flyability forecasts for light aircraft at Latvian airfields (EVAD, EVJA, EVLA, EVVA). The next five days are scored hour by hour against crosswind, tailwind, wind, gust, cloud, visibility, precipitation and daylight limits. - [How to read the brief](https://planepit.com/brief/how-to-read): How an hour becomes a colour, and what the limits mean ## Data API PlanePit has a read-only JSON API for a user's own data: their planes, journey-log flights with times, Hobbs, fuel and oil, flight tracks, photos and attachments, per-plane statistics, recorded flight reports, and their pilot log with totals and currency. The user creates an API key in Settings -> API keys and gives it to you. Send it as `Authorization: Bearer ` with every request to `https://planepit.com/api/v1/...`. - [Full API reference](https://planepit.com/llms-full.txt): conventions, every endpoint, parameters and response fields - [API keys](https://planepit.com/settings/api-keys): where the user creates and revokes keys ## Key Pages - [Home](https://planepit.com/): What PlanePit does today and the latest articles - [Journey log](https://planepit.com/journey): How the journey log works - [Articles](https://planepit.com/articles): Full article index - [Aerodrome brief](https://planepit.com/brief): Flyability forecast per airfield
